Basketball
Points per gamePPG
A player's average points scored per game, over the games in the span shown. The headline scoring stat.
Rebounds per gameRPG
Average rebounds — offensive plus defensive — grabbed per game.
Assists per gameAPG
Average assists (passes leading directly to a made basket) per game.
Minutes per gameMPG
Average minutes played per game — a proxy for role and workload.
Field-goal percentageFG%
Made field goals divided by attempts. Overall shooting accuracy from the floor (excludes free throws).
Three-point percentage3P%
Made three-pointers divided by three-point attempts — a measure of outside shooting efficiency.
True shooting percentageTS%
A shooting-efficiency measure that credits threes and free throws: points / (2 × (FGA + 0.44 × FTA)). Truer than FG% because it values the extra point on a three and free-throw scoring.
Effective field-goal percentageeFG%
Field-goal percentage adjusted so a made three counts 1.5×, since it's worth 50% more than a two.
Net ratingNET
Points scored minus points allowed per 100 possessions (team) or per game (as used in Balladex power rankings). The single best one-number team-quality measure.
Football
Passing yardsPASS YDS
Total yards gained on completed passes, credited to the quarterback.
Passer ratingRTG
A 0–158.3 formula combining completion rate, yards per attempt, touchdown rate and interception rate into one passing-efficiency number.
Completion percentageCMP%
Completed passes divided by pass attempts — a quarterback's accuracy.
Rushing yardsRUSH YDS
Total yards gained running the ball.
Yards from scrimmageSCRIM
Rushing yards plus receiving yards — a skill player's total offensive yardage.
ReceptionsREC
Catches made. In PPR fantasy, each reception is itself worth points.
Target shareTGT%
The share of a team's pass targets that go to one receiver — a key predictor of fantasy volume and opportunity.
SacksSACK
Tackles of the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage on a pass play — the marquee pass-rush stat.
Interceptions (defense)INT
Passes caught by the defense — a takeaway credited to the defender.
Passes defendedPD
Passes a defender broke up or deflected — a coverage-impact stat for corners and safeties.
Fantasy
PPR (points per reception)PPR
A fantasy scoring format that awards one point per catch on top of yardage and touchdowns, boosting high-volume pass-catchers. 'Half-PPR' awards half a point per catch; 'standard' awards none. Balladex fantasy football defaults to full PPR.
Value over replacementVOR
How much more a player is projected to score than a freely-available 'replacement' player at his position (the top of the waiver wire). VOR is why an elite tight end can be worth more than a mid running back — it prices positional scarcity, and it's how the Balladex draft board ranks across positions.
Average draft positionADP
Where a player is typically drafted across leagues, expressed as a round or overall pick. Comparing projection to ADP is how you find value.
Fantasy points per gameFPPG
A player's average fantasy points per game under a given scoring format — the core currency of a projection.
Sleeper
A player the model projects well above his draft cost (ADP) — undervalued relative to the field. See the Balladex sleepers list.
Breakout
A young player the model projects to rise sharply from his prior production, often entering a larger role.
Bust
A player the model projects to fall well short of his draft cost — an overvalued pick to fade.
Streamer
A player below startable depth you pick up for one week because he's walking into a great matchup — a short-term, matchup-driven start rather than a season-long hold.
Matchup grade
Balladex's Smash → Plus → Neutral → Tough → Avoid tiering of how favorable a week's opponent is for a position, from the fantasy points that defense allows. It nudges a player's weekly projection up or down.
Floor & ceiling
A player's realistic low-end outcome (floor) and high-end upside (ceiling). High-floor players are safe starters; high-ceiling players win weeks but carry bust risk.
Balladex model
Balladex Impact index
An illustrative 0–99 composite of a player's current level, blending rated skills with accolade bonuses. A transparent model estimate used to order players — not an official metric.
MVP odds
Each contender's modeled probability of winning MVP, from a transparent blend of production, efficiency, availability, team strength and (NBA) pedigree, calibrated across the field so the numbers read like real odds. A model estimate, updated automatically.
Power grade & title odds
Teams are ranked by point differential (NFL) or net rating (NBA); the A–F grade tracks win rate and the title/Super Bowl odds are derived from that margin. Records are real; grades and odds are a labeled model.
Balladex greatness score
The score behind the all-time / GOAT rankings: a transparent blend of career production, best peak seasons, accolades and longevity. A model estimate, not a definitive verdict.
Player similarity (plays-like)
A measure of how closely two players resemble each other — by style (NBA rating-vector cosine) or by production profile (NFL) — used for the 'players similar to' comps. Higher means a closer match.
Projection (illustrative)
A forward-looking estimate built from real past production, aged along a position curve and adjusted for role, availability and matchup. Every Balladex projection is a transparent, labeled estimate — real stats projected forward, never a guarantee.
About this glossary. Standard stat definitions are factual; Balladex model terms (Impact index, MVP odds, VOR, greatness score, projections) are defined transparently, exactly as the site computes them — every model figure is a labeled estimate, not a claim of fact. See the stat leaders, fantasy draft board and all-time rankings these terms power.
