What it measures
A single sport-aware score combining four things: career production, peak season, accolades won, and longevity. The same score drives the all-time ladders, the positional boards and the star power shown on the homepage, so a player cannot rank highly in one place and vanish in another.
The honest data window
This is the part worth reading before citing any ranking here, because the two sports are not equivalent and Balladex does not pretend they are.
Because of that gap the NFL boards are never labeled "all-time" or "greatest ever" anywhere on the site. They are described as modern-era production leaders, which is what they are. A ranking that called Patrick Mahomes the greatest quarterback ever on the strength of data starting in 2005 would be worthless, and worse, it would be misleading.
| Sport | Window | What the board actually is |
|---|---|---|
| NBA | 1946–present | A true all-time board. Seasons and accolade data reach back far enough to support the claim. |
| NFL | 2005–present | A modern-era production board. The data begins in 2005 and carries almost no historical accolades. |
What this is not
Not a verdict, and not a consensus. It is one transparent model with its weights and its window stated. Reasonable people rank players differently; the value here is that you can see exactly what this ranking rewards.
