true
The Cavaliers cut him — twice — and LeBron James's team decided a shooter from North Carolina wasn't worth a roster spot. San Antonio took the scrap heap and turned him into a Finals record.
Chapter
In the 2013 Finals he could not miss, raining threes on Miami until he owned the record for the most ever made in a championship series. Then it slipped away in Game 7, and the ring went the other way. The cost of coming that close is that you remember it forever.
Chapter
A year later, San Antonio finished the job, and Green had his first title. He would go on to win two more, in two more cities — a 3-and-D wing who outlasted the doubt by being useful in the exact, unglamorous ways that win playoff games.
Chapter
Sixteen seasons from a man twice told he wasn't enough. He built a career on the shot in the corner and the willingness to guard, and quietly became one of the great winners of his generation.
