The Ballad of Kiki Vandeweghe

Birth to now — the making of a legend, narrated and scored.

Denver Nuggets

Turning pro

Drafted 1980 as a Forward.

true

In the fastest offense basketball had ever seen, a mile above sea level, Kiki Vandeweghe was the pure scorer who made it sing.

Chapter

Out of a basketball family and UCLA, he became one of the most efficient high-volume scorers of the 1980s — a deadly shooter who could get 25 a night without ever looking rushed, sharing the load with Alex English in Doug Moe's Denver track meet.

Chapter

Two All-Star selections as a player. Then a second act almost no scorer manages: a sharp front-office mind who rose to become one of the most powerful executives in the NBA. The game never left him — he just changed seats.
